THE 23 LINE

FAMILY RACING DRAMA / COMING-OF-AGE | FEATURE | 105 MIN

It’s not the fastest line that wins. It’s the one that’s true.

LOGLINE

Ten-year-old karting prodigy Gilles Moretti races his late father's number 23, carrying Bobby Moretti's lessons into every corner while his mother fights to keep him from following the same dangerous path. When Gilles is promoted into competition against older racers—and finally meets twelve-year-old Seb Nyström, a rival talented enough to beat him—he must discover whether greatness means perfecting his father's racing line or finding one entirely his own.

THE STORY

Gilles Moretti has been around race cars since before he could walk and knows his red-and-black Tony Kart down to the smallest vibration, pressure change and shift in chassis balance. His late father Bobby left him more than the number 23 and a racing trust—he left Gilles a voice inside the helmet: Quiet hands. Lose one to win two. Let her breathe. Never race the driver. But Gilles's mother Jo controls the money and fears every lap takes her son farther down the same road that took his father.

When coach Renzo Castillo moves Gilles against older competition, wealthy racing power broker Graham Nyström and his twelve-year-old son Seb enter his world. Seb isn't a spoiled pretender—he's an exceptional racer who can genuinely beat Gilles—and as the season escalates through technical inspections, sponsorship battles and increasingly serious competition, Gilles begins discovering that everything Bobby taught him can only take him so far.
