ash & Snow
LIMITED SERIES | 6 × 45–50 MIN | HISTORICAL FRONTIER THRILLER / FAMILY SAGA / POLITICAL CRIME DRAMA
The river belonged to everyone. Then someone drew a line through it.
LOGLINE
In a Dutch river colony built on fur, debt, shifting treaties and stolen land, a compromised colonial surveyor and an ambitious Native diplomat investigate a warehouse massacre threatening to ignite a frontier war—only to discover that every faction surrounding them has a different reason to make peace impossible.
THE SERIES
In the final years of Dutch control over Nieuw Ark, commerce has transformed temporary agreements into farms, deeds, boundaries and competing claims to the same land. When a North River Company warehouse burns with Dutch and Ashawaak bodies outside, missing gunpowder and pages torn from a land ledger turn a murder investigation into a fight over who actually owns the future.
Surveyor Arent Vos, Native diplomat Naraweh and the African community surrounding Amari Baptiste enter the crisis protecting very different things: colony, sovereignty and legal freedom. As merchants, soldiers, smugglers and foreign powers exploit the instability, the mystery widens into something more dangerous than determining who committed a crime—deciding whose version of the past will become law.
SIX EPISODES
01 — ASH AND SNOW
A North River Company warehouse burns before dawn, leaving one Dutch and one Ashawaak body outside while gunpowder, pelts and crucial ledger pages disappear. As three communities collide over what happened, an English ship appears at the mouth of the river with its own interest in Nieuw Ark.
02 — THE PRICE OF PEACE
Pressure for retaliation grows as Sowan gains followers, Slaak demands raids and soldiers search Amari's community for the missing powder. Arent discovers one of his own old land translations has become evidence while Naraweh quietly opens negotiations with another Native nation.
03 — WAMPUM
Furs, food, guns, credit, sex, information and shell currency turn everything—and everyone—into something that can be traded. As Marot enters the game and Isaac's rumor network feeds the panic, Naraweh makes a secret bargain that may change the balance of power.
04 — THE SMALL WAR
The frontier fractures into raids, burnings, disappearances and ambushes as violence spreads through farms and families rather than battlefields. Slaak commits an atrocity meant to restore control while the consequences of Naraweh's private diplomacy begin arriving in bodies.
05 — THE DEED
The original land agreement resurfaces with Arent's signature on it, forcing him to confront his own place inside the system he has been investigating. Meanwhile Hale courts Dutch defectors, Amari realizes a change of empire could threaten his family's protections, and Nieuw Ark begins to understand that Dutch rule may already be ending.
06 — NO ONE OWNS THE RIVER
English ships arrive as Veen bargains for survival, Slaak demands war and Arent weighs resistance against the families who will pay for it. Naraweh and Amari race to protect what they can before one colonial power gives way to another—and everyone discovers that changing the flag does not settle who owns the river.
NO ONE OWNS THE RIVER.
Everyone intends to inherit it.
