LOGLINE
Rafa Nyström was once a legendary wine exp a man whose extraordinary sensory memory could identify a wine, expose a flaw and reconstruct a bottle’s history from details almost nobody else could perceive. Years after walking away from that world—and carrying the guilt of missing his father Anders’s final days—Rafa encounters La Dernière, an impossibly rare bottle whose impeccable provenance contradicts what his senses tell him. His questions pull him back into an elite world of collectors, brokers and fortunes built on authenticity, where proving that one bottle is false could unravel far more than its value. But the deeper Rafa investigates, the more the mystery forces him toward the one thing he has never been able to authenticate: his own memory of the choice that cost him his father.
THE STORY
Rafa Nyström understands wine, food, music and the tiny details that reveal whether something is genuine. But since missing his father Anders's final days, Rafa has built a life around precision, memory and preservation—including miniature rooms from his past and one he cannot finish: his father's kitchen.
Then Rafa encounters La Dernière, an extraordinarily rare bottle with flawless provenance—and a scent that tells him something is wrong. Following that discrepancy into the secretive world of collectors and manufactured authenticity forces Rafa to confront a question far more personal than whether the wine is real: what good is something precious if nobody ever uses it?
WHAT GOOD IS IT IF YOU NEVER USE IT?
Some things become valuable because we use them.
